A same sex family photoshoot is my favourite way to spend a Sunday.
These two gorgeous girls and their two mummies, Ruth and Tammy came to visit Chorleywood Common for their family photoshoot. As an LGBTQ family photographer (arguably the first in the UK) my goal is to provide more than just stunning family photographs. It’s more than capturing emotive moments, your wild side and giving you a fun family day out. It’s about being a safe zone for the LGBTQ community and representing all kinds of love.
People often ask me how I approach a same sex family photoshoot and my response is always the same. I photograph love. I aim to capture the connection and love between families. So, I approach each family photoshoot the same way. Each family is unique and this uniqueness is displayed in how they interact with each other. The giggles and the funny moments, the wild ones and the loving ones. These are the genuine moments I look for.
This Sunday morning was the perfect day for a Same Sex Family Photoshoot out in Hertfordshire. We set off over Chorleywood Common in the hunt for the wooden animal carvings dotted around in the trees. We found acorns and logs to balance on, and even the perfect chair made out of a fallen tree! We investigated bumble bees and chose the best leaf or two to slip into a pocket for keeps.
It was so much fun. Both mums and the little ones enjoyed the day out and Ruth said when I delivered these to her ‘Oh we had such a great day, thank you so much for taking such lovely pictures of us and our girlies 🙂 Thanks so much for taking the time out of your weekend to do these, there really are so many beautiful photos that we absolutely love’
I had the best time with Ruth, Tammy and their blue eyed beauties! I loved capturing the Wilkinson family, their individual characters and the special bond between them.
